A..Not yet. A weekly, 12-seat Cessna Caravan service was running two years ago but this has been stopped pending the extension of the runway, allowing larger planes to land. We hope this will be completed this (2019) year and will keep you posted of developments.
A..The area is a low risk malaria area. Sometimes there are a few mosquitoes around dusk, and if you go on one of the treks into the jungle areas. So we recommend you bring a good repellant and mosquitoe nets are provided. As always see your doctor for advice on malaria and any other illnesses/precautions likely to be a problem in the tropics.

A..Very good. Boradband Wifi is available free of charge. Mobile phone reception is good as well. Global roaming is very expensive and guests can buy a local SIM card and number for less than AU$10, or simply use mobile Apps and WiFi.
A..All travelers should be carrying a first aid kit. If anything major happens a good doctor is available at the Biha health clinic, about 10 minutes away. The nearest hospial is 6 hrs by car. We can arrange helicopter Medivac if needed. Travel and medical insurance is essential when traveling overseas, especially in Indonesia where facilities are usually not up to western standards. All our agents ensure our guests have travel insurance. Staff will give assistance until help arrives but Ombak Indah Resort will not assume responsibility for medical treatment or costs.
A..In general they are very friendly .and curious about our ways. The kids are a great way to improve your language skills. If you must give them something, make it food, t-shirts, books and pens etc. Never give them money as that sends the wrong message and spoils the whole deal when you get a lot of kids who approach you with their hands out begging. It is a relatively poor area but there are better ways to help than just giving money. Many of our repeat guests bring over old clothing and toys that would normally go to Vinnies. It's a great way to help out the locals.
Accommodation for foreign tourism (i.e. surfing) has been operating in the area since 2001 and the locals are no longer so suspicious about our 'strange ways' and motives. In fact a recent re-zoning of the sub-district boundary has made Krui the new administrative centre for 'Pesisir Barat', West Lampung. This is acknowledgement by the Indonesian government of the importance of tourism to the area. And we are proud to say that Ombak Indah has been at the forefront of discussions with the local authorities on how to manage the transition for the benfit of everyone.
So slowly the locals are learning we're not about changing their religion or eating their kids or devil worship and raping and pillaging. Mainly they see we just come to surf have fun and maybe learn about the culture and lifestyle in this area. They are learning that tourism can benefit the community and that's what the owners of Ombak Indah are keen to encourage.
A.. Three meals a day are included in the accommodation price. Mixed fruit is provided breakfast and other meals, depending on availability. Breakfast varies from toast and eggs, jaffles, nasi goring, omelettes and other, depending on availability of supplies at the market or in Krui. Lunch and dinner are a nice balance of Indonesian dishes, modified for the western palate (not too spicy) and Western dishes including pasta, pizza, hamburgers, KFC style fried chicken with chips and coleslaw, and tacos. The food is plentify, very tasty and is generally served buffet style. Special dietary needs are also catered for - just let the Manager know. And as always, we ask you to be considerate of your fellow guests, and take what you want, but eat what you take.
